![]() DODD-FRANK LAW and DESIGNATIONS: Page 822 of the Dodd-Frank Law - "Membership in a nationally recognized professional appraisal organization may be a criteria considered, though lack of membership therein shall not be the sole bar against consideration for an assignment under these criteria." Q. What does this mean to the majority (over 80%) of appraisers who are NOT designated and do not belong to an organization that offers a designation? A. It means that appraisers who have a designation, have an edge in the hiring process. Therefore, AAREA is offering a designation program. AAREA's DRA1 will have the following benefits: 1. The designation will remain with the appraiser after a certain time period as a DRA1 has been met. 2. Membership in AAREA is free, but there will be a charge to be registered for the designation program to cover administration costs. The fee is currently under discussion. 3. Education can be taken long distance. AAREA will be promoting the designation to AMCs, lenders, Real Estate agents and the general public. |
